| This series is based on The Divine Comedy by Dante Aligheri, so any similarities between characters in that work and the ones in this work are completely noncoincidental. This work is not meant to be a faithful reproduction of The Divine Comedy, nor is it meant to be a criticism or satire of said work, nor is it a commentary on said work. This is supposed to be a story, written for fun, to be read for fun. That's it, that's all. What is The Divine Comedy? Dante Aligheri, an Italian poet, wrote the trilogy in the 12th century, during a time of significant political intrigue. The work could be considered part vision of hell, purgatory and heaven;, part devotional to his one true love, Beatrice; and part political commentary. He certainly takes great pleasure in roasting (both literally and figuratively) the famous faces of his day. If you've never read it, I recommend you do so sometime--it might be old (although it could always be older), but it's still not lost its relevance. That said, the stories posted here should *never* be considered suitable for use when studying the original work. They might be easier to read, though! |
